ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — An animal removal company is warning people to look out for snakes after workers caught a 5 1/2 foot water moccasin in St. Johns County on Tuesday.
Quick Catch, a Jacksonville-based wildlife removal company, said in a Facebook post that snakes are on the move because of increased water levels after Hurricane Matthew.

Quick Catch said the snake had head trauma and would have died. The company said crews humanely euthanized the snake.
They were called to remove the water moccasin after a homeowner found it curled up on their porch in Nocatee.
The snake measured between 5 feet and 6 to 8 inches long and was the biggest the company has ever caught. The company said the world record is 6 feet 2 inches long.
