A 25-year-old woman was arrested after reportedly leaving her child in a hot car for 40 minutes in Jacksonville.
Firefighters told JSO that the child was locked in the car and sweating when they arrived near Lanier Terrace Nursing Home on Tuesday.
Katy Gross, the suspect, was reportedly inside the nursing home and later came outside to unlock the car.
Fire Rescue 49 said the child had been in the car from 9:45 a.m.-10:25 a.m.
Officers said that the child was very hot and sweaty but not in major distress.
A witness said he noticed the child in the car while working near the building. He said he noticed that the car was not running, officers reported.
Officer said they called the Department of Children Families and Services and a child protective investigator took custody of the child at the scene.
Gross was taken to the pretrial detention facility.
