Since Sunday’s shooting, people in Orlando have been paying tribute to the victims and on Thursday night, that even continued on a field at Barnett Park for all 49, and specifically for Daryl Burt II from Jacksonville.

Each week on Thursday night, World Adult Kickball Association players in Orlando gather to play kickball in Barnett Park. But this week, they took the time before their games to stand together for the 49 who died in their city, at a nightclub many of them are familiar with.

“Many of us go to Pulse. I was terrified trying to find out how many were in the club that night,” said WAKA commissioner Carolyn Dickinson.

Nearly 350 people stood in formation for a while until they got it right and finally they did, making a rainbow heart that said “WAKA” in the center.

“It makes even more sense for us to do something to honor him. His name was Daryl Burt II,” Dickinson said.

WAKA is active in 35 states throughout the U.S. and Sunday morning they lost Burt II, who was an active member of WAKA in Jacksonville and they made sure Burt’s picture was right in front.

“I wanted to make sure that they knew across the country that we lost one of ours,” Dickinson said.

The WAKA members also collected fund for Burt’s family.
