Customers at the Memphis City Employee Credit Union told FOX13 Memphis "Santa Claus" must have needed a little help this season buying gifts after police said the man masked as Kris Kringle robbed the bank.

Memphis Police said the suspect did not use a weapon to rob the bank. Instead, he used a note.

William Byas told us he is a customer of the bank and has never thought it would be targeted by criminals. "It's crazy for anybody to take anything. Thou shall not steal," Byas said.

Byas said it is a blessing the suspect did not harm any of the workers or customers of the credit union.

“I feel pretty bad... makes me want to go buy a weapon of some sort to protect myself just in case,” Byas said.

Police told FOX13 the suspect did get away with an undisclosed amount of money.

At this time, it is unclear in what direction suspect ran in.

Police continue to search for the suspect. If you have any information about this crime, Memphis Police urge you to call CrimeStoppers at 528-CASH.
