JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Starbucks is dedicating one of its stores to the military and their families.

It’s the first military family store in Jacksonville. It’s part of Starbucks military commitment – a goal of hiring 25,000 veterans and military spouses by 2025.

Veterans spouses also have to sacrifice. And too often, they also have trouble finding work. According to a study by Blue Star Families, military spouses face a staggering 18% unemployment rate, about four times the national average.

“It’s just a way for us to bridge the gap between the military community, have a place where they are welcome. We hire military spouses, military veterans, many benefits for them. We work on transferring them to other stores when they get relocated,” said Sarah Weyer, store manager.

Starbucks said it hopes active military and veterans will call this location a home.

Next month, Starbucks has a hiring event scheduled with the USO. Check back for an exact date.
