None — JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- Documents obtained by Action News detail one of the most recent human trafficking cases prosecuted in Northeast Florida.
In the federal case against Ruel Alexander Brown, the government alleges Brown used threats of violence to force a young woman into prostitution.
Brown admitted to using promises of a better life to lure them in, than threats and physical violence to hold them.
He also told investigators he branded one of the women with a tattoo that reads "Property of King David."
Ian Sean Gordon admitted in court documents to forcing a 15 year old girl to have sex in motels and homes around the city.
An undercover officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office told us girls as young as 11 are forced into the trade, with younger girls earning more money.
In some cases, victims are forced into prostitution by strangers, in other cases, girls are forced into the sex trade, by a relative.
We traveled to Tampa to talk with Connie Rose.
The mother of two tells us her father began sexually abusing her at age two.
As a teenager, Rose says her father forced her to have sex with strangers.
"Before I started my night, he would always make sure I had something to drink, and so would the person I met, so I wouldn't remember where I was," Rose says. Her father never served a day in jail for her abuse.
Instead, he was placed on house arrest, followed by probation, mandatory sex offender therapy and he also had to register as a sex offender.'
Connie Rose now helps other survivors of human trafficking, through her group Victims 2 Survivors.
