Facebook offers 'safety check' for Orlando residents

ORLANDO — Many people who live in Orlando or the nearby area may have received a notification from Facebook asking if they were OK Sunday following the shooting at Pulse nightclub in downtown Orlando.

According to Facebook, it’s feature that is activated by the company during natural or man-made disasters to quickly determine whether people in the affected geographical area are safe.
