People magazine crowns John Legend as 2019's 'Sexiest Man Alive'

Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony-winning musician John Legend has been named People magazine's "2019 Sexiest Man Alive."

The cover of the issue to be released Friday shows Legend, who is 40, wearing an unbuttoned, wet, blue shirt and standing in waist-deep water.

“I’ve finally impressed her,” he said.

The 10-time Grammy winner told the magazine that the honor comes with some pressure since he's following Idris Elba, who was last year’s winner. Legend said that “is not fair and is not nice to me!”

Legend said his wife is proud of him.

His wife Chrissy Teigen posted on Twitter that his children were not so impressed.

Legend has two children with model-television host Teigen.

Other recent winners include Dwayne Johnson and David Beckham.
