According to investigators, Alexander Kraus, shot Eversole on March 25. Eversole died from his injuries on April 3.

Kraus was arrested after the shooting, WSB reported, and charged with aggravated assault, but his charges were upgraded to murder after Eversole, 37, died.

Eversole, whose real name is Arthur Eversole, was best known for his 2002 hit “We Ready.” Eversole was 17 years old when he released his debut album, “Ride Wit Me Dirty South Style.”

“He was a great and loving man. He was really genuine and loved everyone,” Jordan Hughley, identified as Eversole’s nephew, told the Sun.

Tributes to Eversole were posted on social media as news of his death spread.

“RIP Archie Eversole. We Ready has been the soundtrack to my nights, weekends, and ATL UTD match days for years & was the first song I played for my son before his first Five Stripes experience at MBS. His presence has had huge impact on our city/culture. Condolences to his family,” Larry Luk, creative director for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United, posted on Twitter.

“rip archie eversole, an energetic rapper who crafted a song and anthem which will outlive and still be wholly southern and atlanta,” wrote Brandon Caldwell, who works for ESPN.

Eversole was active in the Atlanta hip-hop scene following the success of “We Ready,” and was contracted in 2018 to release the theme “United We Stand” for the city’s Major League Soccer team Atlanta United.
