Pipe smashes through vehicle’s windshield on Ohio interstate

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — A woman escaped injury Thursday after a large pipe crashed through the windshield of an SUV she was driving on an Ohio interstate, authorities said.

The 42-year-old Sylvania resident, who was not identified, was traveling northbound on Interstate 75 near Bowling Green, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The pipe penetrated the vehicle on the passenger’s side, the television station reported. The woman was alone in the vehicle, troopers said.

A vehicle in front of the Mercedes-Benz SUV struck a metal pole at around 4:45 p.m., sending it airborne, WJW reported.

There was no information about the vehicle that struck the pole, WJW reported.
