HORRY COUNTY, S.C. — Police are searching for the person who left a puppy in a trash compactor at a recycling center in South Carolina.
The Horry County Police Department said in a Facebook post that the puppy was found in a trash compactor on Thursday afternoon. Officers said the animal was likely placed there between 3 p.m. and 3:17 p.m.
Police told WLTX that a woman around 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and weighing 240 pounds was seen in the area around the compactor at the recycling center driving a black truck, and that investigators want to identify her. She is not being called a suspect or a person of interest at this time.
In its post, the Horry County Police Department said the dog is being taken care of by environmental services officers in the department.
