YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. — Yellowstone National Park’s iconic Giantess Geyser erupted last week following years of dormancy, officials said.
In a Saturday tweet, the National Park Service shared a video of the moment, which quickly made the rounds online.
“On Tuesday, August 25, Giantess Geyser roared back to life after a period of more than 6-1/2 years without erupting,” the NPS captioned the clip, which had been viewed more than 64,000 times by Wednesday.
According to the NPS website, “infrequent but violent eruptions characterize” the geyser, which “erupts in several bursts 100 to 200 feet high.”
