None — JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars signed rookie wide receiver Derrick Townsel to a contract today. Townsel, 23, was not drafted following his four-year career at Murray State. The Jaguars waived rookie wide receiver Jason Harmon to make room on the roster.
In 2008, Townsel totaled 53 catches for 667 yards and three touchdowns in nine games. He posted a career-high 11 receptions for 199 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee Tech and added a seven-reception 165-yard outing against Austin Peay. He played in 10 games as a sophomore and had 37 receptions for 259 yards and two touchdowns. As a freshman, he registered 234 receiving yards on 19 receptions.
A native of Miami, Townsel attended Overton High School in Memphis where he earned all-region honors as a senior while also lettering in baseball. Townsel will wear number 14.
