ORLANDO, Fla. — The National Football League's Pro Bowl is moving from Honolulu to Orlando, according to a report by Bloomberg.com.
Florida Citrus Sports, who was responsible for submitting the Pro Bowl bid to the NFL, told Channel 9 it is still waiting to hear from the league.
A city of Orlando spokesperson said, "Regarding these reports that the NFL Pro Bowl is coming to Orlando, the City has not received any official notification of this."
Last week, tourism officials voted to spend $3 million in tourist tax dollars to make a bid for the Pro Bowl in 2017 as part of a three-year deal. Orlando is not the only city to make a bid, as Houston, Honolulu and Sydney, Australia are also in the running.
The Pro Bowl typically pulls 50,000 fans when it’s played in Hawaii. When it was played in Miami, there were about 70,000 fans in the stadium.
