On the eve of his wedding, Jaguars Twitter bands together to buy Trevor Lawrence and his bride a $300 toaster

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As pretty much everyone knows, the Jacksonville Jaguars have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and it’s a near certainty that the Jags will pick former Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

So of course, Jaguars fans are already getting excited about Lawrence coming to #DUUUVAL aka “Trevor Town.”

Lawrence is getting married in Bluffton, South Carolina on Saturday to his longtime love Marissa Mowry. The two got engaged in July 2020.

Jags super fan @E_Dilla showed a screenshot from Lawrence and Mowry’s wedding registry online and joked that someone should buy HIM the toaster.

The campaign to buy the happy couple a smart toaster began on Friday afternoon on Twitter.

@BoldCityCap then suggested that fans get together and buy them a gift and @E_Dilla volunteered to collect funds for the gift on Venmo and the collection toward the toaster began.

The toaster, which retails for $299.95 from Revolution Cooking, is a 2-Slice High-Speed Smart Toaster that has a touch screen (wow!).

As of 5:30 p.m., @E_Dilla had collected $2,775 -- way beyond what the toaster costs.

One fan suggested that a poll be posted on Twitter at 8 p.m. so everyone could decide on what gift would be purchased.

Then @E_Dilla put up a poll asking if the remaining money should be used for gifts or charity:

Then local lawyer John Phillips said that HE bought the toaster and told E_Dilla to use the money collected so far to buy more gifts:

Even Action Sports Jax Sports Director Brent Martineau got in on the fun:
