The First Alert Weather team is tracking a potent storm system that will move into the area Friday.
The forecast for the entire area will have heavy rain at times along with scattered thunderstorms, some of which may be severe.
Expect at least some flooding in as well as standing water on area roads and highways. Southeast Georgia will be especially susceptible to widespread flooding due to heavy rain the last several weeks.
The heaviest rain is forecast to fall between mid-morning and midnight Friday with amounts averaging 1-3” but some areas with 4” or more.

Anyone living or working in flood prone areas should stay up to date for possible warnings.
Scattered thunderstorms will also develop throughout the day Friday into the early evening. These storms will move quickly northeast and could produce strong, possibly damaging winds.
Power outages will be a possibility.
There is an isolated tornado threat about 11 a.m. Friday through 7 p.m. Early indications point to two corridors for a potentially higher tornado threat:
- From near Lake City to Waycross & Hoboken
- From Ocala to Palatka to St. Augustine
