Girl, 15, hurt by broken glass in Jacksonville drive-by shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 15-year-old girl was just inches away from becoming the 13th child in Duval County injured by gunfire this year.

She was sitting in a car that was riddled with bullets in a drive-by shooting on Talladega Road. She was injured by flying glass when the windows were blown out.

Heavy rain couldn’t hide the sound of gunfire in the Moncrief neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

“Just sounded like firecrackers. It was raining so hard, but it sounded like firecrackers,” said one neighbor.

Police say the 15-year-old was hit by glass and taken to the hospital. Neighbors say she is doing OK.

Neighbors tell Action News Jax it’s a miracle no one was seriously hurt, especially the teen sitting in the car.
