Sister of motorcycle crash victim: Drivers need to slow down, pay attention

Stephanie Robinson (shown left, wearing her helmet and riding and at right) loved to ride, her sister Britani said.

After she was killed Tuesday evening while riding her motorcycle, Stephanie Robinson's family is using her death to send a message to others.

They want people to slow down and pay more attention when driving.

“It's just not worth it anymore. I can't imagine, I couldn't imagine being the reason that a family has to feel this way,” Britani Robinson said.

Besides slowing down, the Robinson family wants people to be more aware of motorcyclists after 22-year-old Stephanie Robinson was killed on the Buckman Bridge days ago.

"You have to look twice; look a third time," Robinson said.

A video was sent only to Action News Jax showing the crash site just moments after it happened and before first responders got to the scene.

"Car came over on her and that was it," Robinson said.

Robinson said her sister was actually going to a memorial ride for another motorcyclist when she swerved on the bridge Tuesday night to avoid being hit by a car.

"She knew what she was sitting on when she was on that bike. She knew what it could do, she knew how to handle it,” Robinson said.

Even though she was wearing a helmet and her bike is still intact, Stephanie didn’t make it.

This weekend, the Robinson family said there will be two memorial rides for Stephanie as a community remembers a young life taken too soon.

"She's my only sister. She's my best friend,” Robinson said.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, this has been the only deadly crash this month on the Buckman Bridge and the second one this year.

There will be one memorial ride for Stephanie Robinson on Saturday and another on Sunday. 904 Performance is planning Saturday's ride; visit their Facebook page for the latest details. Stephanie Robinson's funeral will be 2 p.m. at Russell Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Green Cove Springs. After the funeral, riders will ride over the Buckman Bridge and end at Dick's Wings in Argyle Forest.
