SJCFR said the vehicle ran off the road on a curve and hit at least one tree. Michael Jarek Sonognini, 17, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash, which caused closures on a westbound lane of Longleaf Pine Parkway at County Road 16-A.
FHP said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
Action News Jax's Cole Heath said the speed limit in the area is 45 mph and there are no street lights where the crash happened. It's not yet known if speed was a factor in the crash.
