GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — A 14-year-old Clay High School student was arrested after allegedly threatening to commit a mass shooting at the school, says the Green Cove Springs Police Department.
According to police, on Wednesday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) forwarded information after receiving a TTL Guardian (Threat-to-Life) tip regarding a Roblox user threatening to commit a mass shooting at Clay High School.
Investigators were able to identify the Roblox user as a 14-year-old Clay High School student who lives within the city limits of Green Cove Springs.
The Green Cove Springs Police Department conducted an investigation that contributed to the identification and arrest of the teenager. The student was transported to the Duval Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
The 14-year-old was charged with: 836.10(2) written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism.
The police department states that Clay County School District and they take all threats involving their schools seriously, and threats of violence will not be tolerated.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office stated on social media that it will have extra deputies at Clay High School Thursday out of an abundance of caution.
