Putnam County Sheriff's Office deputies said they arrested the leader of a dog-fighting ring.
Ruth Bryant, 44, was arrested Friday in Hawthorne after an ongoing investigation.
In 2015, police were called about a dog fight where about 100 people were gathered.
When they got there, two dogs were fighting in an arena made out of a wooden box.
In all, 20 dogs were rescued. At least one had to be put down.
Police said Bryant was a key player in that fighting ring. Additional arrests are anticipated.
Bryant was booked into the Putnam County jail on one count of causing an animal to fight with other animals, one count of facilitating an animal fight and one count of attending an animal fight.
