JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — People flying out of Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) will now have another option for parking.
Economy Lot #1 reopened Monday, 1 year after it closed due to the downturn in air travel from the coronavirus pandemic.

“As people feel safe being in airport terminals and flying in airplanes again, we want to be ready for the increase in traffic,” JAA CEO Mark VanLoh said in a release. “Given the updated guidance from the CDC on vaccinated people traveling, that could happen very soon.”
The Jacksonville Aviation Authority said also on Monday, an estimated 7,500 passengers were set to fly out of JAX, the highest single day for travel out of the airport in more than a year.
During the holiday season before the pandemic, in November 2019, both Economy Lot #1 and Economy Lot #2 closed because they were full.
A few operational changes are now in place that travelers should be aware of prior to parking in Economy Lot #1:
- The lot is credit card only, no cash
- Masks are required on shuttle busses to and from the terminal
- Shuttle busses are sanitized frequently
- Economy lot rate remains the same – $6/day
