JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — John Hagan told Action News Jax he has plenty of pictures of his daughter, Ebony Nicholas.

Monday he said the latest with the 22-year-old is beside her casket.

The dad said in September, he learned Nicholas, was shot while on shift at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in northwest Jacksonville.

He described, “I just broke down. I prayed up until that point that it wasn’t her.” Hagan added, “I would never have thought that it would be my daughter that was killed in there.”

Loved ones said the father of Nicholas' two young sons, Daisean Biffle, shot her before unsuccessfully trying to kill himself.

Biffle is charged with 2nd-degree murder.

Action News Jax reported when another targeted, deadly shooting happened at the same warehouse months earlier, in June.

“They could have avoided that by having security in there after that one guy got shot,” Hagan explained.

Monday, Action News Jax reporter Beth Rousseau called and emailed company leaders with questions about permanent changes in response to the two shootings.

Action News Jax did not immediately receive a response.

Hagan admitted he’s a former Amazon worker.

He said a trip through metal detectors at the start of employees' shifts could save someone else’s kids.

According to Hagan, “It can happen again, it really can happen again.”
