BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The Glynn County Health Department will host its annual drive-thru flu vaccination event on Oct. 8 in Brunswick.
Health officials recommend annual flu shots for everyone ages 6 months and older to help protect against serious flu-related illness.
The drive-thru clinic will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the health department parking lot at 2747 Fourth St. Health officials note that September and October are ideal months for vaccination, giving the body time to build immunity before peak flu season.
While vaccination is advised for most age groups, health officials emphasize that shots are particularly important for high-risk populations. These include adults over age 65, children younger than 2, pregnant individuals, and people with underlying conditions such as asthma or chronic lung disease.
In addition to the drive-thru event, flu vaccinations are available on regular clinic days at the health department without requiring an appointment.
Adam Sanchez, nurse manager of the Glynn County Health Department, emphasized the flexibility offered to residents. “Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for everyone in Glynn County to get a flu shot,” Sanchez said. “So, whether you participate in our annual drive-thru event or walk into the clinic on a day that’s convenient for you, we’re ready to get you vaccinated and on your way.”
The cost of a flu shot is typically covered by health insurance and the health department accepts many insurance plans. Low-cost vaccination options are available for individuals without health insurance coverage.
Several other health departments across the Coastal Health District will offer special flu vaccination events later in the fall. Updated information and schedules will be added online here throughout the season.
