LAKE CITY, Fla. — A 37-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested by Lake City police after allegedly engaging in sexually explicit conversations with detectives posing as teens.
On October 1, detectives with the Lake City Police Department assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force continued an undercover operation in Lake City targeting people attempting to exploit children online.
During the operation, detectives posed as teenage girls when communicating with multiple people after posting undercover advertisements on a website used to arrange illicit encounters.
Police say 37-year-old Sean Michael Eaton of Jacksonville engaged in sexually explicit conversations with individuals he believed to be minors. During the investigation, detectives developed probable cause to seek an arrest warrant for Eaton.
After the State Attorney’s Office approved the arrest warrant and a judge signed it, Eaton was taken into custody without incident.
The investigation still remains active and ongoing with additional possible arrests.
The Lake City Police Department encourages anyone with information regarding crime to contact them at (386) 752-4343 or report information anonymously through the LCPD TIPS line at (386) 719-2068 or Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at (386) 754-7099.
