The three people involved were all burned in the fire, but one of them sustained more significant burns when they tried to get to the second floor to save someone trapped inside. Neighbors said that was where they saw flames bursting out the ceiling.
“We looked at our window and saw the top upstairs like, blazing,” said Christy, a neighbor who witnessed the whole situation.
Over a dozen rescue vehicles were at the scene.
JFRD said it knew there was a rescue involved.
“We knew there was someone trapped inside upstairs,” said Fire Captain Eric Prosswimmer.

While they were not able to use the charred stairs, they were able to get their crew in and get all three people out.
“The first person was on the ground talking to us. Burns, but significant burns ... The person who was assisting had burns but was still moving around, got transported And a third person wasn’t ... Wasn’t even talking to us by the time we pulled them out,” said Prosswimmer, when asked about the victims’ conditions.
The three people were taken to UF Health just down the road.
The fire marshal, Chief Kevin Jones, has been called to the scene to determine how the fire began, but he does not believe it was heater related.
