Lake City man arrested after allegedly soliciting undercover detective posing as child for sex

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Lake City man was arrested on multiple charges, including using a computer to seduce or lure a child, after allegedly expressing interest in having sex with an undercover detective posing as a child, says the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

According to deputies, 23-year-old Willie Lamar Rogers of Lake City was communicating on social media with a specially trained undercover detective. During conversations, Roger allegedly expressed interest in having sex with the child and sent pornographic images as he was aware of the undercover detective’s stated age.

He gave the child his address and told them to pick him up so he could go back to the child’s residence to have sex while the parents are at work. Rogers was met with detectives when they arrived at his residence.

Rogers was arrested and taken to the Columbia County Detention Facility, where he was booked with a $325,000 bond.

  • Attempted Sexual Battery (FSS 794.011.5a)
  • Use 2-way communication device to facilitate a felony (FSS 934.215)
  • Transmit info harmful to minors (FSS 847.0138.2)
  • Use computer to seduce/lure child (FSS 847.0135.3a)
