A man has been found guilty of murdering his 22-year-old girlfriend and dumping her body in a dumpster in Jacksonville, Duval Court records show.

The jury found Courtney Lamar Davis guilty on Friday afternoon.

Davis was charged in 2015 with killing Brittany Foote, who was last seen alive March 18, 2015.

Officers began investigating the murder on March 26. Davis' father called 911, saying his son had confessed to the crime.

Police said Davis also confessed after investigators initially interviewed him. Davis was originally arrested on a Maryland charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Davis and Foote were together for about three years and had lived in Jacksonville for about eight months, police said.

JSO said Foote's body was put in a dumpster off Dunn Avenue. Detectives searched the Trail Ridge landfill for her remains, but did not find her body.

Davis' sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 10.
