PALATKA, Fla. — Two restaurants were forced to close for business because of serious health code violations. Health inspectors cited violations because of flies, ants, roaches and rodents.
An inspector visited the Little Caesar’s in Palatka and found live roaches and dead roaches. It was temporarily shut down and allowed to reopen the next day after two follow-up inspections.
New Apple Buffet on Blanding Boulevard in Jacksonville was cited for having nearly 50 live roaches. An inspector saw an employee wash their hands without soap and noticed the food surface wasn’t sanitized after cleaning. New Apple Buffet was temporarily shut down, but allowed to reopen after an inspection.

At Blue Water Daiquiri & Oyster Bar in Jacksonville, a health inspector saw flies in the kitchen and bar areas, long hair in salad dressing, ants on the cooler and rodent droppings. A follow-up inspection is required.
