Residents on Winton Circle said they are fed up with flooding issues that they claim have been going on for years.

On Monday, several residents attended a community meeting with St. Johns County Commissioner Paul Waldron to voice their frustrations.

Resident Peter Dorpema has lived on the street for 19 1/2 years. He said flooding was not always an issue.

“It’s a nightmare and it’s only getting worse,” Sue Bergeron said. Bergeron has lived on the street for over a decade.

She said as little as 2 inches of rain can make the water on the roads so deep that cars cannot drive through the neighborhood.

“I don’t know what’s happening, but the more developments we’ve had, the worse it seems to get,” he said.

Residents said they feel neglected, but Commissioner Waldron said the county is listening to their concerns.

He said a drainage study is currently being conducted.

The county hopes to have the results in August. He said that, from there, they hope to find a solution and move forward.
