MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — A gas station employee in Middleburg said she is fed up after finding several syringes in and around the convenience store.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office told Action News Jax it is aware of the recent needles found at the gas station on County Road 218 near Bluejay Drive.
The employee, who Action News Jax is not naming to protect her identity, posted a picture of the syringe on Facebook to warn parents to be on the lookout.
With several schools nearby, neighbors like Daniel Palladino said it’s a major concern.

“These kids, they see it they are going to pick it up, and that’s what’s scary,” Palladino said.
The gas station owner told Action News Jax a needle was found as recently as last week inside the store behind an ice storage bin.
The employee who made the post said she has also found syringes in the bathroom and in the parking lot.
The Sheriff's Office said no county is immune to drug use. The agency said it actively works narcotic cases, conducts traffic details and has special operations to combat the peddling of narcotics within the community.
