UPDATE: 'No bond' for Jacksonville Beach woman accused of killing her mother

A Jacksonville woman accused of killing her mother was transported from Orange County back to Duval County Monday.

Investigators say Marla D’Andrea, 40, killed her mother and then took off with her 7-year-old son.

D'Andrea was taken into custody Friday when police found her at Orlando International Airport after a Florida Missing Child Alert was issued for her 7-year-old son.

D'Andrea appeared in court Sunday morning where an Orange County judge denied her bond.

It was the disturbing discovery of her mother’s body inside D’Andrea’s Jacksonville Beach apartment Friday that prompted the search that led to her capture at the Orlando International Airport.

The boy is unharmed and in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Neighbors say they’ve always been suspicious about the tension they’ve heard in the apartment.

"I’m having a hard time understanding who can do something like that and the fact that it’s so close to my home," said neighbor Lori Deputy.

"Ms. Barbara was a sweet woman. I’ve known her all my life," said neighbor Matthew Hunt when he learned of the death of Barbara D'Andrea, 67.

“There was a lot of yelling and cursing, at night, generally late at night, said Deputy. “What I know is that the grandmother had custody and I realized that recently the mother did get custody back.”
