On Friday, dozens turned out for a job fair for the convenience retail company, Wawa.

Wawa is working to fill 200 positions in our area.

Tyrik Madden knows the job search can be tough.

“To get a job, it's pretty rough,” Madden said. “I've been to a lot of interviews myself, so I know, so sometimes you have to call jobs back, let them know you're really into it.”

Madden is optimistic he can land a job with Wawa.

Action News Jax was there as dozens of others joined Madden Friday for a Wawa job fair at the Homewood Suites in the St. Johns Town Center.

Wawa is opening four stores in Duval and Clay counties, and wants to have at least three stores up and running by the end of the year.

The positions being filled earn up to $13.50 and $16 an hour.

“I'm definitely excited,” Madden said.

Just days ago, Action News Jax told you UPS wants to hire 1,900 workers from the Jacksonville area ahead of the holiday season.

The supermarket grocer, Aldi, wants to add another 500 jobs.

Between Amazon, Ikea, and Florida Blue, that's another 5,000 new jobs.

Wawa is hosting another job fair at the same location Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
