In America, odometer fraud cost over $1 billion annually.
Here are a few things you can do in order to protect yourself from odometer fraud when buying a used car.
- Get an inspection
- Inspect the vehicle
- Research the seller
- Get a vehicle history report
- You can get reports from Carfax and the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System
If you do find yourself a victim of odometer fraud you can file a complaint with the Attorney General.
