None — Jekyll Island, Ga.-- A gator made a few waves at a local water park.
There are pictures of the uninvited guest. It's a creature that wandered far from its natural habitat to get in on the summer fun.
At the Summer Waves water park at Jekyll Island an alligator decided to make a few waves of its own by hanging out in the lazy river. Moms, dads, kids and even workers couldn't believe a gator was taking a dip in a human watering hole. Josh Kaiser heard folks yell gator, gator. "I grabbed its tail and tried to get it out of the water," said Kaiser.
But that didn't work, so they used a net. "When the gator was coming up the side, we tried to get its head in this net to keep it from biting anyone," said Kaiser.
The parks general manager says they end up in the park from time to time because there are so many bushes and marshes surrounding it. "Every morning we clean, skim and vacuum and he wasn't in there. So, he either came in from a bush or got from a pipe that connects two slides together," said Steve Sharpe.
The non-paying, 2-foot long customer also didn't keep families from enjoying themselves. "Alligators need to relax too," said one man.
There are lots of pictures, and fun memories. "It was really exciting, my first time ever being near a gator or catching an alligator," said Kaiser
But this was the kind of excitement most only hope they have to experience once because after all, "The little two footers have teeth too," said one parent.
There were about 250 people in the lazy river when this happened. The general manager says everyone stayed calm and got out of the water. Some people even wanted their picture taken with the gator.
