ATLANTA, Ga. — Two Georgia universities made it into the list of top 20 public universities in the United States.
The University of Georgia and Georgia Tech were both on U.S. News & World Report’s 2023 rankings of best public universities.

Georgia is one of only four states to have more than one institution in the top 20.
UGA has made it onto the list for seven consecutive years.

“This outstanding news is another clear sign that the University of Georgia is solidifying its position among the very best public research universities in America,” said President Jere W. Morehead. “The consistency of our national ranking is a testament to the commitment of our talented faculty, staff and students; the generosity and support of our loyal alumni and friends; and the effectiveness of our vision and strategy to reach new heights of academic excellence.”

At the risk of stirring up that heated UGA/Tech rivalry, the universities were almost neck-and-neck.
Georgie Tech came in at #15 and UGA came in at #16.
The #1 public university on the list is the University of California at Berkeley.
