1. Stop what appears are TAX INEQUITIES, the current system is NOT FAIR for everybody. Based on local business media, there are sales of properties that when compared to the Duval County Property Appraiser's Office assessments, it is my opinion that it appears that some properties are woefully under assessed, creating tax inequities, costing the City of Jacksonville, Duval County, MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, which could have been used toward more police protection, schools, libraries, fix street pot holes, and more services for all citizens. Based on my media sample, it appears that these properties on the average of the sample, are assessed at approximately 55% of their sales price. The assessment ratio in the State of Florida is 100%. 2. Five (5) INVESTIGATIONS. Since my opponent, Jerry Holland, Property Appraiser, his office for about the last three (3) years, has been INVESTIGATED by five (5) separate agencies. US Department of Labor, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), City of Jacksonville, Office of Inspector General and Human Rights Commission, and US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Currently, JERRY HOLLAND IS A DEFENDANT in the federal court system for alleged Age Discrimination lawsuit. A past employee, was laid off after 29 years of service at the Property Appraiser's Office, and was "within weeks" of getting his 30 year pension, and has filed an Age Discrimination lawsuit in the federal court system.
