Brevard County company helping study if breathing device can help COVID-19 long haulers

COCOA BEACH, Fla. — A Cocoa Beach medical device company is teaming up with the Mayo Clinic to help people suffering from long COVID-19.

The research centers on a basic breathing device that’s been effective since the 1980s in treating other respiratory, cardiac and neuromuscular impairments.

PN Medical and Mayo Clinic will measure how this basic, non-drug device, already used for decades to strengthen respiratory muscles for other conditions, may reduce long COVID-19 breathing issues.

“To be part of the solution really matters to us, that we’re not on the sidelines, we’re taking a bold step forward to try to cause positive change,” Carbone said.
