JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It was a messy day Thursday in some parts of Jacksonville like Riverside, where Action News Jax captured a video of flash flooding.
A time-lapse of rain coming through was seen on the Skycam network, and a viewer in Durkeeville shared a video of flooding.
Action News Jax chief meteorologist Mike Buresh tweeted a picture showing a rain gauge in Mandarin that caught almost 3 inches of water in 45 minutes.
Action News Jax asked the city of Jacksonville about any work it’s doing to mitigate flooding.
A spokesperson said in response to climate change this coming year, $10 million is being put toward resilience, with $50 million pledged over the next five years.
The city also says there’s $86 million for drainage improvements and $28 million for river bulkhead improvements throughout the city.
The city added that it was blamed for drainage issues Thursday; a spokesperson says the city determined the issues were on private property that the city does not service.
