Deputies: Orange Park man says he killed 2 people in fake 911 call

ORANGE PARK, Fla. — A local 911 dispatcher received a call confessing to a double murder that never happened.

The suspected caller, James Wiley, is in jail facing a felony charge, even though he didn't kill anyone.

Wiley had only been out of jail a month when he made the alleged call on Thursday. Records show Wiley was arrested for domestic violence in July.

Two witnesses we spoke with say the crank confession was part of a retaliation plot.

When Action News Jax’s Cole Heath shot cell phone video of Clay County deputies lining a rural road in Orange Park, he thought he had come across a major active crime scene.

Both the deputies and Heath found out around the same time that the murder scene they swarmed was all a hoax.

“They came in the yard and put me and him on the ground,” said Roger Sauls, who owns the Orange Park property Wiley lives on in a camper.

Deputies say Wiley called 911 Thursday, confessing to killing two people.

Neighbor Sylvia Stevens lives next to Wiley and said she heard the call.

“He says ‘I killed them. I killed them my wife and her boyfriend. I killed them,’” Stevens said.

Sylvia's son Ron and Ron's ex-girlfriend were the supposed victims. Both are still alive. But deputies kicked in neighbor Catherine Cosentino's front door before the all-clear was given.

“He said they were here, that's why they broke in my door. We were on the way back but we didn't get here in time,” Cosentino said.

Cosentino said Wiley made the phony call as retaliation for her calling the cops on him last month for domestic violence.

Now Wiley is locked up, facing several charges including a felony for giving false information to police.

Wiley is also on the hook for the damage to Cosentino's door and putting his landlord in the middle of this scene.

“That's a first time for me and it was kind of scary,” Sauls said.

Wiley's arrest report said detectives traced the call to Wiley after he originally gave the dispatcher a fake name.

We found Wiley has three previous arrests in Jacksonville as well.
