A violent weekend in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A violent Saturday in Jacksonville kept Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officers on their feet.

JSO investigated at least three shootings and a stabbing on Saturday alone.

JSO’s crime map from last Saturday to Friday of this week shows there were more than 100 recorded assaults in the Jacksonville area.

Saturday alone, police responded to numerous violent crimes.

It started early Saturday morning with a break-in and shooting, according to JSO. Police said a woman broke into her ex-boyfriend’s Mandarin home and shot him.

”The adult male victim was transported to the area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” a spokesperson for JSO said.

Locals were surprised — Christina Lacy has been delivering newspapers in the area for 28 years.

”It’s just never happened this area. It’s always been safe. I’ve always felt safe in this area,” Lacy told Action News Jax.

Also, early Saturday morning, officers were called to a wooded area off Beach Boulevard, where they found the body of a man who had been stabbed several times.

Police said officers questioned a person on the scene, which led to the arrest of 32-year-old Christopher Kreighbaum.

Police were also called to Monotak Avenue, where they said a man was shot several times and died. Police said some sort of fight broke out before the shooting.

JSO stated a suspect took off running through an apartment complex on Winnebago Avenue.

And late Saturday evening, Action News Jax got a tip about violence on Myra Street. The Action News Jax crew tried talking with officers but was told to move back.

This is a developing story. Be sure to check back for updates.
