JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman was killed and a man is in the hospital in an early morning shooting in the Lackawanna neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m., at the 2800 block of Maplewood Street in response to the shooting. Officers found an adult man and an adult woman shot inside of a vehicle. Both were taken to a local hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead. The man’s injuries are non-life-threatening.
Police believe both victims were sitting in a vehicle when an unknown suspect approached and fired at least 8 shots.
Police stated that they believe the suspect fled in a black Chevy Impala and there is not any threat to the community.
There were at least three witnesses of the shooting and police is asking for more witnesses to step forward.
