Fans find parking alternatives at The Players Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It was round 3 at The Players Championship as fans crowded the golf course to see some of their favorite players tee off.

Parking passes for the event sold out earlier in the week, meaning there were limited parking options for fans looking to attend.

Aaron Bauman says he bought his parking pass about a week ago. He and his friends say they left the house around 6:45 a.m. so they wouldn’t have to deal with traffic.

“We got here real early and it wasn’t too bad,” said Bauman.

But some fans, including Deborah Walsh, didn’t buy their parking pass on time.

“My advice to people for next year is to get those parking passes early because we waited too long and driving down here, hotels were full and we weren’t really sure where we were going to park and how we were going to get here, said Walsh.

Still, plenty of fans told Action News Jax they were taking advantage of a ride-sharing service that has a drop-off and pick-up location at the Couples Entry off ATP Boulevard.

“We took an Uber. We saw online they were advertising Ubers and drop-off and pickup and so it was easy, no traffic, said Katherine Hutchins.

She drove from southern Georgia but still decided to go with a ride-sharing program to get to TPC.

“I mean, especially if you’re from out of town and you want to come and not worry about parking and where to go, they just drop you off, and there’s just signs telling you where to go, said Hutchins.

But no matter how these fans got there, many tolf us they all came out for one reason.

"I personally wanted to see Tiger Woods play," said Bauman.
