FBI Jacksonville helps track down Florida man wanted in U.S. Capitol siege

Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Jacksonville Division announced the arrest of a Florida man wanted in connection to last weeks’ insurrection at the United States Capitol.

On Thursday, Michael Curzio of Summerfield, Florida was taken into custody by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office during a joint operation with the FBI Jacksonville Division, and in coordination with the FBI Washington Field Office.

Curzio was among the first individuals to be charged federally for his role in the riot and assault on the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

The charges, announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, included knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; or knowingly, with intent to impede government business or official functions, engaging in disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

The FBI says 13 people have been charged so far in federal court but say the arrests are “just the beginning of the FBI’s ongoing efforts to hold those responsible for the criminal acts of violence and destruction that unfolded during the U.S. Capitol building breach.”
