PALATKA, Fla. — A 66-year-old motorcyclist was killed Thursday night in a crash in Palatka.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the man was traveling on U.S. Highway 17 near Palmetto Bluff Road behind two other motorcyclists when a car pulled out from a parking lot into the road.

Troopers believe the victim did not slow down quickly enough, resulting in him colliding with the car and being thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken to Orange Park Medical Center in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A second motorcyclist was also thrown but was not injured.

FHP does not identify the victims of fatal crashes but says the man was from Clarkston, Michigan.
