JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — This morning is dry and mild with temperatures in the 70s under mostly clear skies.

  • Temperatures will quickly heat up again today through the middle and upper 90s.
  • Humidity will push feels like temperatures to near/above 108°F this afternoon.
  • Everyone should practice heat safety by staying hydrated and limiting outdoor work during the hottest part of the day.
  • Another round of afternoon/evening storms are expected today, especially for northeast Florida.
  • With abundant tropical moisture in place, storms will be capable of producing torrential rainfall, as well as strong wind gusts and frequent lightning.
  • Thursday and Friday will be hot and humid days with some afternoon storms.
  • The Jags preseason game Friday will feature hot temperatures in the 90s (feels like 100s) but cooling during the game from sunset and/or a few areas of rain and storms nearby.
  • This weekend will be seasonally hot with some afternoon storms.

  • Nothing in the Atlantic.
  • Lala has re-strengthened into a major Category 3 hurricane in the central Pacific Ocean. Further intensification to a Category 4 storm is possible.
