JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Tracking a dry bus stop forecast for school today.

  • Temperatures will be mild and muggy in the 70s to low 80s.
  • Heat advisory in effect for all of NE Florida and Coastal SE Georgia from noon - 7 p.m.
    • Highs this afternoon will be in the lower to mid 90s.
    • Feels like temperatures will top out at 105-110+.
  • Isolated to widely scattered late afternoon storms are possible, especially near and north of I-10.
    • A few gusty winds are possible with any thunderstorms that develop.
  • The rest of this week will be HOT with highs in the mid to upper 90s.
  • An extreme heat watch is in effect Thursday morning - Thursday evening for Coastal SE Georgia.
    • Feels like temperatures on Thursday could exceed 110 degrees.
  • A few afternoon storms tomorrow as well.

  • 3 areas to track over the Atlantic:
  • Tropical wave over the Eastern Atlantic does have the potential to develop – approaching the NE Caribbean by early next week where conditions continue to look marginal at best, so the system should struggle in the longer range.
  • Disturbance that was east of Jax Saturday is moving across the North Atlantic away from the U.S. – brief development possible, but no local impacts.
  • Another tropical wave has emerged off the West Coast of Africa and will continue to move east.
