- Record high temperature in JAX today is 99 degrees. (1954, 1957, 2023)
- Feels like temperatures will top out at 105-110+.
- An extreme heat warning is in effect this morning through this evening for Coastal SE Georgia.
- Feels like temperatures could exceed 113 degrees.
- Isolated to widely scattered afternoon storms are possible.
- The rest of this week and weekend will be HOT with highs in the mid to upper 90s.
- A few afternoon storms through Saturday with isolated afternoon storms on Sunday.
TROPICS:
- 4 areas to track:
- (1) Tropical storm Cristobal was upgraded Wed. morning over the open N. Atlantic – no threat to any land areas & should dissipate likely today.
- (2) A tropical wave won’t develop upon approach to the Caribbean due to strong wind shear but squalls will impact the Lesser Antilles this weekend…
- (3) stronger wave over the Eastern Atlantic does have the potential to develop – approaching the NE Caribbean or SW Atlantic next week where conditions continue to look marginal at best, so the system should struggle in the longer range even though the system may strengthen in the shorter range….
- (4) Central Pacific: a disturbance may become a tropical storm or even a hurricane upon approach to Hawaii this weekend.
