The Gainesville Police Department said two dogs attacked a woman while she walked her own dogs in the neighborhood on Monday.
The woman told police she could hear the dogs growling behind her, so she picked up her dogs and began to walk away slowly, when the dogs began to attack her dogs, according to an incident report.
According to police, the two dogs left cuts on the woman's head and face, deep puncture wounds on both her arms and possibly broke her arm.
One of the woman's dogs was mauled to death by one of the attacking dogs, police say.
The report says a neighbor saw what was going on and called police for help.
According to the report, the owner of the dogs suspected of attacking the woman gave his dogs over to Animal Control and was cited. The report says Animal Control also took the woman's dead dog.
The report says the owner of the dogs suspected of attacking the woman told police his dogs have never been aggressive toward another animal before.
