Gun store offering low-cost gun classes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — With all the gun deaths in Jacksonville, a local store wants to change the culture, one lesson at a time.

Concealed-weapons classes are as low as 40 bucks at Green Acres Sporting Goods and geared toward people of all ages.

Parents especially are encouraged to bring in their kids.

The instructors not only show technique, but teach the proper way to lock up your gun and store it.

Employees say the goal isn't to empower criminals, but to address the problem at the root.

"When their parents aren't around, they go searching out the firearm instead of teaching them what a firearm is and what it can do," said Phillip Gazaleh with Green Acres Sporting Goods.

"The more people know, the better. Guns don't kill people. People kill people," said Gina Allphin, a gun owner.

Green Acres is so serious about safety, from now until Christmas anyone who comes in and wants a gun lock can get one for free.
